Privacy Policy
Lookback, a product of MyEVM, Inc.
Effective: August 16, 2026
Last updated: August 16, 2026
The short version
Lookback is a place to keep a private record of your own life. We built it on the assumption that what you write here is nobody's business but yours.
- We do not read your entries. No person at MyEVM accesses your content unless you ask us to for support, or we are compelled by law.
- We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it to train AI models.
- We never see your card number. Payments are handled entirely by Stripe.
- You can export everything you've written at any time, and delete your account yourself.
The rest of this document explains the details.
1. Who we are
Lookback is operated by MyEVM, Inc., a corporation organized under the laws of Wyoming, United States.
Contact for privacy questions: yo@myevm.org
Mailing address: 32 N Gould St, Sheridan, WY 82801
2. What we collect
Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, profile image, and a unique account identifier. We do not receive your Google password and cannot access any other part of your Google account.
Content you create. The entries you write, the dates you assign to them, tags, thread names, files you upload (photos, documents), and the reports you generate. This is the substance of your record, and it belongs to you.
Subscription information. Your Stripe customer identifier, subscription status, and renewal date. Card numbers, billing addresses, and payment details are collected and stored by Stripe — they never pass through our systems and we cannot retrieve them.
Technical information. Standard web server logs generated by our hosting provider, including IP address, browser type, and pages requested. These are used for security and troubleshooting.
We do not use advertising trackers, third-party analytics that profile you across sites, or cookies beyond those required to keep you signed in.
3. How we use it
We use your information to operate the service: to authenticate you, store and display your entries, generate the reports you request, process your subscription, and respond to support requests.
We do not use your content for any other purpose. Specifically, we do not use it to build advertising profiles, to train machine learning models, or to develop other products.
4. Who we share it with
We share data only with the service providers required to run Lookback. Each processes data on our instructions and is bound by its own commitments.
| Provider | Purpose | What they receive |
| Google (Firebase) | Authentication, database, file storage | Account details, entries, uploads |
| Stripe | Payment processing | Email, payment details, subscription data |
| Anthropic | Generating reports | Entry text included in a report request |
| Vercel | Application hosting | Technical logs, request data |
About report generation. When you generate a report, the text of the relevant entries is transmitted to Anthropic's API so the report can be written. Anthropic does not use data submitted through its API to train its models, and does not retain it beyond what is needed to return a response. If you would prefer that a particular entry never be transmitted, do not include it in the scope of a report.
We do not share your information with anyone else. We do not sell it. We do not disclose it to advertisers, data brokers, or marketing partners.
We may disclose information if legally compelled — for example, in response to a valid subpoena, court order, or lawful government request. Where we are permitted to notify you of such a request, we will.
5. How long we keep it
While your account is active, we keep your content for as long as you keep it. Entries you delete are removed from our database and are not recoverable.
If you cancel your subscription, we retain your content for 90 days. This gives you time to change your mind, resubscribe, or export your record. After 90 days, your content is permanently deleted.
If you delete your account, your content is removed promptly and permanently. Backups containing residual copies are cycled out within 30 days.
We retain limited billing records after deletion where required by tax and accounting law.
6. Your rights and controls
Export. Settings includes a button that downloads every thread and entry as a JSON file. You do not need to ask us for it and there is no limit on how often you use it.
Deletion. You can delete individual entries, entire threads, or your whole account from within the app. Account deletion is immediate and permanent.
Correction. You can edit any entry at any time. Note that Lookback deliberately preserves the original date an entry was written, and marks edited entries as edited — this is a feature of a dated record, not a limitation, and it applies to your own entries as well.
Access. You may request a copy of the information we hold about you by writing to us.
If you are a California resident, the CCPA gives you rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising any right.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you may have rights under the GDPR including access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. Our legal basis for processing is the performance of our contract with you and, for security and fraud prevention, our legitimate interests.
To exercise any right, write to yo@myevm.org.
7. Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by our infrastructure providers. Access to production systems is limited to personnel who require it. Database rules restrict every account to its own data, enforced at the infrastructure level rather than only in application code.
No system is perfectly secure. We do not claim otherwise. If we become aware of a breach affecting your information, we will notify you without undue delay.
Please note: Lookback is not end-to-end encrypted, and cannot be while it offers AI-generated reports over your entries. We can technically access your content; we have a policy against doing so and the practices described in this document. If your threat model requires that no provider can ever access your content under any circumstances, Lookback is not the right tool.
8. Children
Lookback is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
9. International users
Lookback is operated from the United States and your information is stored and processed there. If you access the service from outside the US, you consent to that transfer.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. If we make a material change to how we handle your information, we will notify you by email and update the date at the top of this page before the change takes effect. Continued use after that constitutes acceptance.
